Case study
An enterprise-wide, web based solution for an independent travel agency
The World of Wymaway is an independent travel agency based in Wiltshire. We were invited to analyse their business with the intention of upgrading their office systems. We performed a SWOT analysis to assess the exact needs of the business.
Elm Computing's solution
Based on our SWOT analysis,
we formulated a requirement for a system that can do the following:
- Staff can log in from anywhere in the world to a secure and reliable database. The application stores a full set of customer details, and staff can write notes about each customer's needs.
- Staff can record orders and enquiries for each customer in full detail, and track their progress.
- Payments in and out can be tracked, and there are facilities for discounts, refunds, and vouchers. Receipts and Invoices are generated automatically, as are flight itineraries and chauffeur schedules.
- Information can be searched for in a variety of ways (by name, city, postcode, order number, etc)
- Warnings are sent via email if an enquiry or booking is not dealt with promptly, or if a payment is late.
- Standard financial reports are available: Profit and Loss, Cash Flow, VAT Returns, Accruals and more.
- Complex customer and sales information can be displayed and exported for marketing purposes

At each stage of development, our clients were consulted on the practices of the business to ensure a best fit solution.
Our customer support has continued way beyond the development of the application. We also supported the World of Wymaway in migrating all of their historic business data into their new system. We have delivered individualised training in the use of the system to their entire team. To further support them, we have written a full user manual which can be accessed online or used in printed format.

We support all of your IT needs, so that you do not need to worry
We continue to have excellent relationships with this client, and we remain their first port of call for any IT issues through our maintenance contract. We have set up and continue to support their office IT systems: PC Maintenance, Broadband connections, office networking, wireless Internet access, email.
The World of Wymaway web site, the office application, and the company's email accounts are all held safely on our own secure server. This ensures that these services are always available and backed up against harm.
